St. Francis Academy

Union City, NJ

Completed 2025

St. Francis Academy was founded in 1959 by the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. Originally an orphanage, the property was converted into a private elementary school, financed by a building fund established by the Mother’s Guild.  The first graduation was held in June 1968, and it continues to foster the academic progress of grades K-8 for its community.

This project called for a new decorative scheme in the school chapel, echoing the original colors of blues and greens in the santuary mural. New patterns were added behind the side shrines, and the  Lord's Prayer was incorporated on both sides of the Nave.
